The year started of a little bit bumpy but the road smoothened itself out eventually. I have been blessed in tremendous ways I cannot even begin to expound. I am especially thankful for being well-fedl; this week my stomach has been on full overtime! Bunch of meetings also mean eating to my heart’s content. After work leisure with my aunt and mom means eating out to whatever cuisine we crave for! Please imagine how my stomach feels the whole week: tired but happy! Did I tell you that the theme of the week is Japanese food? I think I had four consecutive days of maki and sushi. I don’t even feel sick of it.. just yet
Summer is here and the ironic part of all is my dreams are darker than the usual. My self-esteem is put into test ad folks, dreams are not even real life! What could my subconcious be telling me? Hmmm…
Last week was brownies week in lieu of making something sweet for Valentine’s. When I asked my bestfriend for suggestions on what to bake next, she advised me two words: no chocolates! And because summer is here, and I initially got a taste of this pretty little thang on Starbuck’s, I decided to search the net for that ONE awesome recipe, and I had a binggo! Baguio family will love me for these next week!
Thanks, Ms. LuluTheBaker for the wonderful recipe!
HOW THIS TASTES LIKE:
1. SUMMERY! You are dealing with citrus here, so expect a fres lovely scented cake.
2. A LITTLE bit BITTER: My brother and mother told me the cake had a little bit of after taste, a bitter after taste. Why? The recipe calls for whole oranges meaning you chunk the oranges in little pieces, yes with the skin and all (take out the seeds) and puree it in the blender. I think the bitter taste is tolerable. But if you really don’t want this in your cake, then I suggest you peel off the zest of the orange (do not include the white part, called the pith which is located in between the flesh and the skin/zest, because it’s the most bitter part of the orange) and puree it with the orange segments/flesh. Don’t include the pith.
3. DELICIOUS: Light, refreshing and scrumptious! The pictures, I think, can explain themselves. The orange poppyseed cake is great for an afternoon tea, or powerup/pick-me-up breakfast
when will I see you? I mean it, I want to eat the photos off the page!
